Can this really be the day? My oldest (only five) is starting Kindergarten. I remember the day she was born and all my friends and families saying, cherish every moment, because time will fly by now that you have a kid. Holy cow were they right. Five years later and two kids more, time does not seem to ever slow down. Perhaps it will this winter, or after spring garden season, or the thoughts of why or when it might slow down always continue and it still never seems to happen. So I sit her now with a quiet moment to my self reflecting on this fast paced life I feel I live, and really I would not change it for anything. I love every part from the fast pace, to the messes, the whining, no time for me, the mommy why questions, to those little bear hugs and butterfly kisses! So with all that said, this starts our next adventure in parenthood, SCHOOL. A whole other learning curve. Am I ready, you better believe it!!
School, or I should say homeschooling in our case. That to some is a cruel, how can you do that to you child word. I on the other hand feel the complete opposite. I have gone to many orientations, meetings, read many book, articles, studies on homeschooling. What an amazing opportunity homeschooling is, if it is conducted correct. My husband and I decided a year ago, when Paisley was only four that we would like to homeschool. Why, you might ask. Well, to us it was simple. The schools seem to lose more and more of there valuable tools to create a well rounded education every year. Sure, my kids would be fine if they went to public school their whole lives. But, as their parents I feel like it is my duty to fill in where our schools seem to lack and make sure to give them that amazing foundation for the rest of their lives. They are as it is said, Our Future!
Thus begins our first week. Our little Paisley starting homeschooling. I treated it as any mom would, lots of love, excitement, and praise that our little girl is no longer little. She is taking her first steps into becoming a little lady! Uggh, there goes that time again. Well, we started the week off very well I feel. Trying to find that rhythm to balance homeschooling, motherhood, younger siblings, being a wife, business owner, etc. I think we are getting it down though. I am realizing already, that I just have to move with the moment if my schedule hits a speed bump. I have to admit, I am not that good with speed bumps, but I am trying to let go and move on as my husband would say! Goodness I love him for those moments of clarity!

As our first week of school comes to a close, I am so thankful that I have chosen the path of homeschooling. I feel no regrets, no it is not easy, and yes I get tired. But when I look into those beautiful blue eyes of my little Paisley, I see how much this is going to impact her. She will have such an amazing foundation and respect for family! Why would I ever want to change that! I don't!
